Soup Kitchen

Beginning in 2006, South Side Mission began offering the South Side's only free meal offered each Monday through Friday. The poor are invited to come to the Mission and receive a hot lunch and the Gospel of Jesus Christ, all at no cost.  The Lighthouse Diner offers the main dish of Truth with the side order of a nutritious hot meal every Monday through Friday to all who come.  Our developing menu frequently features whatever culinary delight is being learned in the Culinary Arts Training School.  Join us at 11:45, won't you?

Thanksgiving & Christmas Meals For Those Less Fortunate

On each of these Holidays, the volunteers of South Side Mission will prepare and deliver close to 2,000 and 1,500 meals, respectively. These home-cooked, hearty meals are delivered to the elderly, shut-in, handicapped, and the poor directly to their home and at no cost. A typical meal will include turkey, dressing, green beans, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and dinner roll. With delivered meals, we include a Gospel tract to make sure those receiving a meal receive what is most important: a chance to enter into that most precious relationship, one with Jesus. The Mission also serves a sit-down dinner at noon on these days.
