Our Greatest Needs

There are many specific needs at South Side Mission in addition to financial contributions.  The needs are many, but the Lord has been faithful over the years. We will trust Him for many more.

What kinds of donations does South Side Mission accept?  Well, you'd be surprised!  Because the Mission works with so many people, we have need of nearly anything that you can imagine. Food, clothing, and furniture are a few of the material items that we distribute to the poor, but our largest needs continue to be

time, (in the form of volunteering)

money, (to help fund our outreach ministries) and most importantly:

prayer (to be bold in proclaiming Jesus Christ in every situation and for                   the discipline to bring glory to Him.)

What happens when I donate things to the Mission?  Because we serve nearly 15,000 poor people each year, we give away 80% of the donations that people entrust to us.  Some of the items that come in are passed along to the Mission Mart and offered for sale to the general public.  This has come to be an important funding source for South Side Mission, and even better, it has become a great place for ministry!

Wish List Needs
Two new laptop computers for staff ($1,000 each).

TWO HUNDRED monthly donors to South Side Mission. This will help us to meet monthly expenses in those dry months. Will your family be one of our Bread & Life Circle?

Ongoing Needs

Food Needs  Our food pantry can see 1,000 people in a single month!  For a complete list of food items that we need and information about how you can become more involved, click here.  For the kitchen at the shelter, the quantities tend to be larger and we do receive unused prepared food occasionally.  For more information, please call 676-4604

Pillows, Sheets, Towels, and Washcloths for the women and children who live in our shelter.  To insure that we are providing a clean and wholesome environment for the families we serve, we request that these are in new condition.

Our most important need continues to be prayer. We desperately need people to "do battle in the heavenlies" for us and with us. Pray for wisdom for those in authority at South Side Mission. Pray for provision from our Jehovah Jireh. Pray for joy as we do our work for Him. Pray for encouragement for the people we serve. Pray for protection from those forces that would like to see this work fail.
